Signature is a long, column-straight statement in black. The tissue silk kurta falls to the ankle with wide sleeves and a round neckline, and its detail is arranged in three distinct zones.
Design Details
At the top, the chest is filled with fine vertical lines of black and gold beadwork, creating a shimmering yoke that ends in a floral motif of red roses, cream blooms and gold scrolls. At the lower front, a large bouquet in red, pink, cream and green rises from a gold scrollwork base, hand-embroidered in densely shaded resham silk thread. Along the side opening and hem runs a scalloped border of gold scrolls in kora and dabka metallic threadwork, the same border that edges the sleeves, and crystals, beads and drops add points of light throughout.
Flashes of fuchsia appear at the cuffs and the side opening, a bright counterpoint to the black.
The back carries smaller rose-and-scroll motifs at the shoulders, sleeves and lower back, so the design holds together from every angle.
