Empress is cut long and straight in deep teal tissue silk, falling to the ankle with side slits, and is scattered from neckline to hem with large paisley motifs that give it a stately rhythm.
Design Details
Each paisley is hand-embroidered in zardozi, a raised metallic embroidery, worked in kora, dabka and resham and set with kundan stones, turquoise beads and small drops. The motifs sit at the shoulders and chest and continue in staggered pairs down the front and back, so the pattern reads evenly from every angle.
The long sleeves are split along their length and edged in a border of gold leaves and turquoise beads, so they open slightly as the arms move. The same leaf border runs along the hem, and a small keyhole at the neckline is finished with a short row of embellished buttons.
The tissue silk has a soft sheen that shifts between teal and blue in the light.
