Mocha is a lesson in texture. Deep chocolate brown shesha silk is folded into fine vertical pintucks across the front of the kurta, so light runs down the fabric in narrow lines and the solid color never reads as flat.
Design Details
At the neck, a soft tie collar is edged in pink-red trim and falls into two long ties, each finished with a panel of gold lattice work. The sleeves widen from the shoulder and end in a scalloped edge that follows a line of scrolling motifs in gold, coral, pink and soft teal. The same multicolor scallop runs along the hem of the kurta.
The back holds the surprise. Centered between the shoulders is an ornamental birdcage in gold and red, flanked by two flowers: a single statement motif on an otherwise clean back. Like the motifs on the sleeves and hem, it is hand-embroidered in zari, a fine metallic thread, and resham, a silk thread.
Wide-leg pants in the same brown fall long and fluid beneath the kurta, and the silk has a rich sheen that brings out both the pintucks and the depth of the color.
