Dhalia is built around its embellishment. On deep plum tissue silk, a trailing floral vine climbs the full front of the kurta in three-dimensional zardozi, a raised metallic embroidery worked entirely by hand, combined with resham silk thread, crystals, beads, sequins and pearls. Its blooms come in peach, coral, lilac and pale blue, and near the lower hem the vine grows from an embellished flower basket, giving the design a clear starting point.
Design Details
The cut stays simple so the work can lead. The kurta is short and straight, ending just below the hip with side slits, and has a wide boat neckline edged in fine beaded trim. The sleeves are split open at the front and fall loose from the shoulder, their edges finished with the same beading, so they move almost like a cape.
On the back, a single flower-basket motif is placed at center, with beaded strands hanging below it that end in small embellished blooms. The rest of the back is left clear, so the motif reads as a deliberate focal point.
Wide-leg pants in matching plum complete the set and balance the density of the kurta.
